From a very complex discussion, being my point, I trust. I have begun a couple of Yahoo Groups discussion on the subject of the Bush Administration's proposed Complex 2030 nuclear infrastructure enhancement projected (inclusive of something called the Reliable Replacement Warhead program -- Google either). If you are interested in these, join CAComplex2030 or NVComplex2030, both by typing those names plus -subscribe@yahoogroups.com. These are particularly for persons of interest and some semblence of faith from those states, but all are welcome. And, as I've mentioned in the past, you can see more about the leanings of some at FaithfulSecurity.org.
If you don't read it (or know it), check out a publication called FastCompany, of the .com persuasian. A print magazine (a virtual cover, I would guess) for today's interactively inclined. But what I like most about it is that they do not shy from the idea of using the best of whatever world for their professed mission: making money for the capitalisticly inclined. Even if they have to wade head-strong into the domain of the socially and worldly considerate.
I appreciate the offer to join, which I gladly did. I have worked in the social justice/advocacy area for my entire career, though I am working toward doing more professional jobs in the for-profit sector using what I have learned in the community empowerment arena. I think that is the future of quality for-profits, particularly those making use of interactivity and connectivity, and particularly as our right of privacy evolves into a more or less involuntary right of participation. I hope to write more about these thoughts in the future. I currently work for the California Council of Churches and a group called the National Religious Partnership on the Nuclear Weapons Danger, helping both organize California on issues relating to marriage equality and (of course) the nano-ization of the US's nuclear weapons infrastructure. Anyway, just wanted to say hello and see how this process works.
I'm not sure if this is being posted on the new writer's groups for 20somethings--of which I do not qualify--but I appreciate the idea of such a group and would like to watch how it unfolds. Good luck. I'm just trying to figure out how VOX works and thought I might support your efforts as I explore.
I am working with two organizations that are paying me to organize groups of people of faith, the general public and young people about how our nuclear future is being decided for us with little input or discussion. Right now, as most of the world's super- or almost-superpowers, are actively looking for ways to reduce their nuclear weapons stockpiles, the US is seeking to use technology as an excuse for creating whole new generations of weapons that are easier for individual soldiers to use (these are "tactical" capabilities) and many times more destructive than the explosive warheads we currently have. And this is in the face of evidence suggesting that those we have will last for at least another 100 years.
I developed this site to use as a way of posting the early chapters of my great American novel ... or a series, I should say. The idea being creating several heroic characters who utilize social justice and organizing tactics to address thrilling world challenges, political, war-like, etc. Or, put another way, a Tom Clancy cast of people who might actually be able to accomplish and mission and change the world for the better.
